Immune System: Five Minute Medical Meditation to Strengthen the Immune System

Posture: Sit in Easy Pose



Focus: The eyes are closed and focused on the third eye point.

Breath: Begin a steady and powerful breath of fire

Mudra: Your left hand is at the shoulder level, w/ the left arm bent and forearm perpendicular to the ground, and facing forward. Make surya mudra (see image below) w/ left hand, touch the tip of your ring finger w/ the tip of your thumb. Your right hand is in a fist w/ only the index finger extended. Close off your right nostril w/ your right index finger.

End: Inhale and hold your breath. As you hold, interlace your fingers and put your palms in front of the thymus, just below the throat, about 4 inches away. Try to pull your fingers apart. Resist and create tension when you must, exhale. Inhale and hold your breath and repeat the pulling three more times.

Comments: The immune system interacts with the central nervous system, the glands, and the emotions. We are each given the strength to encounter life's challenges. We have moral strength, mental strength, emotional strength, and physical strength. All these strengths are interconnected. We block the flow of strength when we experience feelings of anger, self defeatism, and self blame. To boost the immune system we must overcome these blocks.


The right hemisphere stores many of the diffused negative emotions that lead us to depression, and to a lower functioning immune system. This medical meditation helps the sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight response) and the right hemisphere to adjust themselves.
